Mikaila Cranton, HBSc, JD
Mikaila is an associate practicing in litigation. She began her career with CARREL+Partners LLP in 2014 as a legal assistant in Wills and Estates. She returned to the firm after law school to complete her articles and is thrilled to continue on as an associate.
Mikaila spent two months after her first year of law school studying international business law at the Bader International Study Centre in Herstmonceux, England. In her second year of law school and the summer following, Mikaila was a student caseworker with the Queen’s Prison Law Clinic. She gained valuable experience advocating for clients in the prison setting, which included defending them against serious disciplinary charges, correcting their institutional records, and helping them assert legal rights to healthcare, parole and more. She was also involved with Pro Bono Students Canada in her second year, where she was team lead on a project providing legal information on how to make a will to groups around Kingston.
Mikaila has appeared before disciplinary courts in four federal penitentiaries around Kingston, Ontario and the Parole Board of Canada.
